Latino Health Organization, Inc. (LHO), a Milwaukee,
WI community-based not-for-profit organization, has grown to reduce the gaps in
health care and prevention education for the Latino community. LHO has
initiated collaborative programs with community-based organizations, health
care facilities, teaching and research institutions, resulting in new services
to the community including immunization outreach and education, prenatal care
coordination, and language translation and interpretation.
The mission of
Latino Health Organization is to improve the quality of life for people of
Latin descent by promoting healthy behaviors and environments. Throughout its
history LHO has collaborated with private and government agencies to accomplish
it’s mission, including the City of Milwaukee Health Department, State of
Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Milwaukee Public Schools,
Medical College of Wisconsin, Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin,
Sixteenth Street Community Health Center, and the Aids Resource Center of
Wisconsin.
Latino Health
Organization and Stocks & Associates have produced a series of health
seminars on video compact disk. Each of the five videos focuses on a health
topic related to Diabetes. The seminars are presented simultaneously in English
and in Spanish and are suitable for viewing by audiences who speak either
language. The videos average 45 minutes in length.

The videos are
available for sale to those who are interested in eliminating the disparities
in health care and education for people of Latin descent. The cost of each
video is $50.00 for not-for-profit organizations and $65.00 for other groups
(shipping and handling is included.)
Proceeds from the distribution of these
videos contribute to the development of future
educational activities to benefit
underserved minority communities.
The Diabetes series of videos was developed in collaboration
with the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Diabetes
Prevention and Control Program and the Area Health Education Center of
Milwaukee. Latino Health Organization educational videos are presented for
